An excellent example of the model; owned by me for about 12 years. I’ve made a few upgrades over the years. Keith tuners on 4 strings. Nechville in-line tailpiece (simple and effective). Nechville Comfort Bevel armrest (so much better that the cold, hard steel). Huber leather strap (simple and secure). Purcell red maple compensated bridge. 5th string spikes on A, Bb & B. Frets 2 to 4 have been lightly dressed; new Remo Weatherking head fitted and new GHS SS PF155’Custom Light’ strings fitted. The original, polyurethane varnish was beginning to peel, so I stripped it off and recoated with a boiled linseed oil and wax concoction that has given the woodwork a very pleasant satin finish that coincidentally makes the neck silky smooth under the thumb (I’ll throw in a pot of the polish, and recipe, which will need rubbing on maybe once a year, or so, like a piece of antique furniture). When the original armrest and tailpiece were replaced, I put them somewhere very’safe’ and cannot, for the life of me, remember where I put them. It may come to pass that I find them in the meantime, but, for now at least, they are not included in the sale. I’m prepared to bet that few would know from the sound that a brass ring was not fitted (I’ve included a pic of how the carbon ring looked when fitted); however, in anticipation of scepticism, I refitted the brass ring during the refurbishment process, so the carbon ring is included as an accessory for you to try, and save yourself lugging 3lbs of brass around. You can probably tell that a lot of love has gone into this instrument. It’s not the most ornate of the Sierra range, but everything that’s gone into it improves the quality of the sound and playability: this is a sound, professional tool.
