Used Boosey and Hawkes Excelsior 3/4 with hard case. My daughter’s cello teacher said it was playable and would benefit from a once over from a luthier. He also said that she needed a full size cello, which means that this one is surplus. According to Google, Excelsior double basses came from Czechoslovakia in the 60s and 70s so presumably this has the same provenance. It is in “road worn” condition with scuffs and cracks, but it is fundamentally sound. The neck is marked and worn but not pitted. It plays well enough in the hands of a beginner but it does not have the volume of a full size cello. The case is pristine and fits the instrument like a glove. It is lined with dark green velvet plush and there are holders for bows. Outside there is a large pocket for music books and the case is on wheels for ease of use in urban areas.
