Martin Soprano Ukulele – Style 2, c. 1920, made in Nazareth, PA. The ukulele has a dark mahogany finish, mahogany body and neck and a rosewood fingerboard. A black chipboard case is included. This style of ukulele was made by Martin between 1919 and 1922. It is a superb example of a ukulele. It was made to the very high standards of Martin in the 1920s. Today, this ukulele is still one of the best sounding ones available. It has an amazing resonance and tone. The Martin logo is stamped inside the soundhole and also on the back of the headstock. The Style 2 Martin has a dark natural mahogany finish and an offset 3-ply white celluloid binding around the top and a single ply on the back. There is a subtle ring around the soundhole which is elegant and refined. The dot inlays are tiny and also quite elegant. The tuners are not original. There are several professionally-done repairs worth mentioning. The repairs do not affect sound, play or appearance. Condition: Overall, the ukulele is in Good condition due to its repairs and overall wear. There are various scratches and dings as seen in the pictures. Keep in mind this is a 100+ year old instrument, so there will be some wear from use. Patch made to the treble-side side wall near curve of the upper bought. Small / fine cracks on back board, which are secured and repaired. Small hairline crack below the bridge on bottom bout. Small repaired scratch on left side of bridge. Re-glued brace inside. This ukulele plays perfectly and has a full, warm and beautiful tone. The Style 2 is a rare instrument to come by and this one is in good condition for being more than 100 years old! Overall length is 20 3/4. 6 1/4 wide at lower bout. 2 5/16 in depth at side. Scale length is 13 5/8. Nut width is 1 13/32. Please feel free to ask any questions.
